Web Page Design - Nonprofit

Here are my rough draft for my website design project. I have chosen to make a website layout for the nonprofit Catskill Mountain Keeper. I broke up the details of the design to each page to make the explanations clearer. Scale is off! I made the top logo and banner too large when sketching it out. They will be proportional when done digitally. Also I am planning on making the bottom banner look as if it were grass on a ridge to give it a foreground appearance to contrast with the top distant mountain vista.

On the home page I have the logo on top followed by a navigation banner. I am going to make the background of the banner black and colorize the mountain buttons for each page. I think they will contrast well on the thin black banner. Beneath the banner I have the nonprofits mission statement, followed by recent developments. I was thinking this section could have a scroll down feature so the user can read longer sections of text without taking up additional real estate. Beneath that are links to CMK's programs. The links will be clipart style renderings that could be scrolled through left/right. At the bottom of the page will be the standard follow @ with links for home, contact us, privacy policy and a donate now button (link to outside site). This bottom banner just like the top will be present on every page.

The about page will feature information about the nonprofit (text), as well as a photo of the staff with names and titles, and a list of the board of directors. All of this info will exist on a single page.
The news page will have 2 distinct info boxes one for action alerts and one for press releases. Each will have the space for a full text article and the box itself would allow for flipping right for the next article and left to go back. I also was thinking it would be good to have a view all link to bring each section to their own archival style page.

The volunteer page is very basic and consists of info on how to volunteer and links to do so.

Now it's time to start working it out in ps.

Sustainabiliy E-card FINAL

Here is my final version of my E-card. I found a great fact about the waste use of disposable cups can cause. Thanks to the advice from the my peers! I think it fit in very nicely. I am happy with the way the project turned out. Enjoy!

Sustainability E-Card

Below is my sketch for the sustainability e-card. I chose to focus on reusing coffee mugs instead of disposable cups. As an avid coffee drinker, I am trying to stick to a max of 2 cups a day though this is easier said than done, this concept came to me one morning after a lot of deep thought about direction.

I went with the angle of having a relationship with your mug and recognizing the significance of reuse over single use disposal. On the front I want to have an eye-catching that is symbolic and peaks the viewers interest. In the middle I want to identify the issue at hand, enormous unnecessary waste due to disposable items, and also explain what the card is suggesting the viewer do (reuse a mug). On the back I want to try and create a clean, simple image that shows a picturesque earth, as if it were the direct result of mug usage, and use a type of logo for the promotion. I am thinking of the eye(I), Heart(love), Mug (not sure of the color yet). I am also looking for the right pictures to use on the front cover. Ideally I would modify a chest or whole body x-ray. Still playing with that concept.
